Minority businesses across the Triad will have a chance to shine bright at the Second Annual Triad Minority Business Expo Weekend presented by Maximum Enterprises Inc. of Winston-Salem.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is expected to attract hundreds of people to visit the more than 60 minority businesses and vendors participating in the expo and business leaders who hope to learn how to enhance their business.

The two-day event kicks off Friday, Aug. 14, with a Captain’s Choice Golf Tournament at the Winston Lake Golf Course, 3535 Winston Lake Road.

Tee time is scheduled for 10 a.m. following registration and continental breakfast at 9 a.m.

The Triad Minority Business Expo will be held Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Enterprise Banquet and Conference Center, 1922 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Doors open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The expo will feature workshops and sessions designed with the entrepreneur in mind, no matter what level of business you operate on.

The educational sessions include the following topics: How to Start Your Business, How to Develop a Business Plan and Marketing for Success.

All of the classes are taught by local business leaders.

Attendees will also have a chance to meet and greet Angela Robinson, who plays Veronica Harrington from Tyler Perry’s “The Have and The Have Nots,” which airs on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

In 1992, Robinson began her acting career on Broadway as Shug Avery in “The Color Purple.”

She has also toured in performances of “Dreamgirls” and “The Wizard of Oz.”

In 2015, Robinson received a Gracie Award for Outstanding Female Actor – One to Watch for her performance in the role of Veronica Harrington.

She’ll be on-hand to sign autographs and take photos.

There will be fun for all ages, including an inflatable bounce house, prizes and giveaways, local entertainment and a kid’s play area.
