Community to roast Eversley – lovingly
A “love roast” and tribute will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15 to mark the 30th pastoral anniversary of Dellabrook Presbyterian Church’ Dr. Carlton A.G. Eversley. The event will be held from 6–9 p.m. at the church, 115 Dellabrook Rd.
Aside from his pastoring duties, Eversley has been a noted activist known for taking up fights for equality and justice. The public is invited to attend and share reflections of Eversley.
“We all know him. We know his works. He has stood in the gap for you, someone you know or know about,” reads a statement from the event’s organizing committee. “During his 30 year tenure at Dellabrook Presbyterian Church, Dr. Eversely has stood for and with those who could not stand for themselves. He has stood with others in the struggle for justice, truth and equality for all. He and his small, but committed Dellabrook congregation have tried to practice what Jesus taught: ‘preach good news to the poor; he has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are oppressed [ downtrodden, bruised, crushed and broken by calamity]’”
