Jamila Granger joins Primo
Jamila B. Granger has joined Winston-Salem-based Primo Water Corp. as vice president and general counsel. She has more than 15 years of in-house and law firm experience; her particular strengths are commercial transactions, licensing, marketing and advertising, intellectual property, global supply chain management, global franchising and distribution and real estate.
Prior to coming to Primo, Granger served as senior counsel and assistant secretary for Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp., where her practice focused on all aspects of domestic and international franchise transactions, commercial agreements, advertising and marketing, intellectual property, international trades and supply chain issues. Granger joined Krispy Kreme in 2008 and was appointed a corporate officer of the Winston-Salem-based company in 2012.
She served as senior attorney for Sealy Corp. in Trinity from 2003-2008. Earlier in her career, she was an attorney at Becker, Hadeed, Kellogg & Berry, P.C. in Springfield, Virginia and at Jenkens & Gilchrist, P.C. in Washington, D.C.
Granger received a J.D. degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1998, where she served as editorial board member for the Virginia Journal of Law & Technology and the Virginia Journal of Social Policy & the Law. In 1995, she received a B. A. degree, cum laude, in anthropology from Harvard College, where she was one of the nine fellows selected by the Ford Foundation to serve as a mentored scholar.
Granger is a noted speaker on the topics of advance franchise disclosure issues, franchise sales and restaurant menu-labeling laws. She is a member of the American Bar Association, including its Forum on Franchising, Diversity Caucus and Publications Committee. In addition, Granger serves on the legal symposium task force of the International Franchise Association. She was selected for The Business Journal’s 40 Leaders Under Forty in 2012 and is active in a number of other professional and civic groups, including the Carl Chavis Memorial Branch YMCA in High Point, Leadership: High Point, and the United Way of Greater High Point.
