Willie Mason and Friends will celebrate their 5th Anniversary at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 1 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 4129 Northampton Drive, where Dr. Nathan E. Scovens is pastor. The event is free and open to the public.
“The Year of Grace” is the theme of the concert celebration, which will feature the group and special worship leader Bishop John C. Williams, senior pastor of the El Bethel Cathedral in South Boston, Va., as well as husband and wife duo Mime Matrimony of Concord.
“As I reflect over these past five years, my heart is filled with such gratitude for the Lord’s blessings upon our ministry! I worship the way I do because of the Sovereign God we serve; He is amazing,” said Mason, founder and director of the group.
The community-based group consists of talented Triad vocalists and musicians who are enthusiastic and dedicated ministers of music. The group has been blessed to perform in concert across the state and in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Virginia and Tennessee. The group’s mission is to share the love of Jesus Christ through song.
