Judge Glenda Hatchett will be the keynote speaker for the 11th annual Corner 2 Corner (C2C) Drug Dealers and Street Life Conference at Union Baptist Church, 1200 N. Trade St., from Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 20-23.

The conference, founded by Union Pastor Dr. Sir Walter Mack Jr., helps individuals take the first steps toward turning their lives around and will include empowerment sessions, testimonies from delivered drug dealers and families, an agency fair, luncheon and a community worship service.

The conference will open with registration and a continental breakfast on Thursday. Nov. 20 and Friday, Nov. 21. Workshops will begin each day at 9:15 a.m. Lunch will follow.  On Sunday, the graduation ceremony will be at the 11 a.m. worship service.

Hatchett, the former host of her own courtroom television show, will conduct a community workshop, “How to Raise Successful Children,” at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The workshop is free and open to the public. She will also speak at the 11 a.m. graduation service on Sunday.

After graduating from Emory University School of Law and completing a clerkship in the U.S. federal courts, Hatchett accepted a position at Delta Air Lines, where she would become the company’s highest-ranking African-American woman.

She served in dual roles at Delta, as a senior attorney and public relations manager. Her outstanding contributions were recognized by Ebony magazine, which named Hatchett one of the “100 Best and Brightest Women in Corporate America.” 

She left Delta Air Lines to accept an appointment as chief presiding judge of the Fulton County (Georgia) Juvenile Court. She became Georgia’s first African-American chief presiding judge of a state court and the department head of one of the largest juvenile court systems in the country.

Hatchett earned her undergrauate degree from Mt. Holyoke College. She was presented with the Emory (University) Medal, the highest award given to a graduate by the university, for her community service and business achievements.

The syndicated show “Judge Hatchett” ran for nine seasons. She is the founder of Parent Power Now, an online parenting network, and author of the national bestsellers “Dare to Take Charge” and “Say What You Mean, Mean What You Say.”

Registration for the C2C conference is free and open to individuals in substance abuse centers, rehabilitation programs, recovering addicts and persons on probation for drug-related charges.
