Pan-Hellenic Council busy giving back during holiday season
The National Pan-Hellenic Council of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County came together, in conjunction with the Sickle Cell Foundation, to assemble Thanksgiving baskets for two single-parent headed families. Each basket contained a ham, turkey, rice, gravy, bread, yams, veggies, stuffing, desserts, cranberry sauce and beverages.
Local Pan-Hellenic Council members also served breakfast to those in need. The annual Thanksgiving breakfast was held at the Winston Lake Family YMCA. Last year marked the eighth year that the Council took part. Nearly 100 individuals were served breakfast and given items such as socks, scarves, hats, gloves and jackets.
During the Christmas holiday, the Council donated Christmas cards to the Mt. Zion Adult Daycare Center, Springwood Care and Oak Summit Nursing Homes. Each facility was also presented with a poinsettia plant.
