K&W Cafeterias presented a $10,000 check to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC Executive Director Clyde Fitzgerald on Monday.

The food bank has been crippled by federal and state funding cuts. The money will help the agency to continue to serve an ever-growing number of clients.

“For nearly our entire 30-year journey, K&W Cafeterias has stood shoulder to shoulder with our organization to help our neighbors in need,” said Fitzgerald. “This gift will help provide (food) across our service area. Down through the years, K&W’s support has been in excess of $140,000. On behalf of the hundreds of thousands of people we serve with our partner agencies, we thank our friends for their strong and continued support.”

Winston-Salem-based K&W has 33 locations in North and South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

“We are proud to be part of Second Harvest Food Bank’s urgent work to help ensure no one goes hungry in our community,” said Dax Allred, president of K&W Cafeterias.
