DCCC players make waves
Davidson County Community College is becoming a basketball powerhouse.
This week, DCCC Storm player Torian Showers signed with Fayetteville State University.
Showers was a DCCC standout for two years. The Georgia native graduated from High Point Andrews High School. Fayetteville State Head Coach Alphonza Key saw Showers play during a DCCC/ Pitt Community College game and then began recruiting him.
Last week, another DCCC b-ball alum got some good news when Winston-Salem State’s Justin Glover was selected to the Black College Sports Page Men’s “BAAD” Team of Black College All-Stars.
Glover, a senior guard from Siler City, played for The Storm before coming to WSSU.
He leads the Rams in scoring and was sixth in the CIAA, averaging 17.2 points per game. He also averaged 2.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.1 steals. He scored in double figures in 24 of 28 games, including the final 13 games of the season and went for a career-high 31 points against Bowie State in January of 2013. Glover was also selected to the 2013 CIAA All-Tournament team.
