UL to hold Community Day at new facility
The Winston-Salem Urban League (WSUL) invites community residents and organizations to its Community Fun Day on Saturday, May 4 at its Quality of Life Center, 3441 North Patterson Ave. This free event will be held from 12–4 p.m.
Urban League staff will conduct tours of the Quality of Life Center and give an overview of programs and services offered there. The Center offers resume and cover letter development services and a computer lab with high-speed Internet that allows residents to apply for jobs online.
Other services offered include the following:
• entrepreneurship and small business development resources;
• employment services for displaced middle to executive level management; and
• a GED program in partnership with Forsyth Technical Community College
Community Fun Day will also offer food, games and a chance to win door prizes.
The Winston-Salem Urban League has pioneered in providing innovative services that meet the most pressing needs of the community. In this economic downturn, the need for Urban League services is even greater and the number of residents seeking services has significantly increased.
In response to the need, the Urban League has expanded its footprint in the community and is now serving 21 counties in Northeast North Carolina. It recently opened offices in Durham and Greensboro.
