American Girl fashions to hit runway
The Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem is using the incredibly popular American Girl franchise to attract visitors.
The Museum will host an American Girl Fashion Show on Saturday, May 18 at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 19 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Embassy Suites Hotel. Proceeds from the event will help the Children’s Museum continue to provide educational programming to families with children across the Piedmont Triad.
More than 100 local girls will walk the runway in American Girl fashions, while lively commentary and music create a truly memorable experience. The runway show will feature historical clothing, from daywear to sleepwear and special-occasion outfits that resemble what the popular American Girl characters Kaya, Caroline, Josephina, Marie-Grace, Cécile, Addy, Rebecca, Kit, Molly and Julie might have worn. Contemporary, Girl of the Year and My American Girl outfits, for girls ages 8 and up, and sweet Bitty Baby fashions for little girls will also be included in the show.
The Museum held two model search events at Hanes Mall to find a diverse group of young girls to model during the shows.
Each show includes a meal, party favors, door prizes, photo opportunities, a doll hair salon, souvenirs and raffle prizes.
Event Tickets are $35 and may be obtained at www.AGFShow.Org or www.ChildrensMuseumofWS.Org.
American Girl started in 1986 as a doll company but has since evolved into a children’s publishing and online marketing company.
