Couple living artistic dreams in retirement
Former Forsyth Technical Community College administrator Dr. Arnold Hence and his wife, Anna, are embracing their love of the arts during their retirement.
He is a budding photographer; she is an acclaimed quilt-and-wreath-maker and author. Their work is on display at venues throughout the Piedmont Triad.
Mrs. Hence has two quilts on display in Delta Arts Center’s “Samplers & Symmetry IV: Pieces by Area African American Quilters,” while Dr. Hence has seven of his photographs in the “Nostalgia” exhibition at Davidson County Community College.
He has had solo exhibitions at the International Civil Rights Center and Museum in Greensboro and the Stokes County Apple Gallery in Danbury.
Mrs. Hence recently took on a new venture with the release of a children’s book, “Robinette Builds Her Nest, A True Story.” The title is available through Xlibris publishers.
Dr. Hence retired as the executive vice president at Forsyth Tech. His wife was a registered nurse for more than 20 years. These days, they can be found selling and showcasing their work at arts and crafts shows and festivals across the state. The couple also have a booth at the Abba Thrift Store in King, where they make their home.
