Cone CFO receives leadership award
Bev Cleveland, chief financial officer of the Cone Health Medical Group, received the 2013 Triad Business Journal’s Women in Business Award during its annual awards luncheon on April 26.
The award recognizes businesswomen in the Triad who demonstrate community and civic engagement, business management, mentoring, inspirational leadership, volunteerism, entrepreneurship, innovation and executive leadership.
Cleveland is the first chief financial officer for the multi-million dollar Cone Health Medical Group, which consists of more than 800 non-physician employees and 243 medical professionals. In this role, she has successfully guided her team in completing an efficient transition of more than 30 individual physician practices into the Cone Health network.
Active in community service, she mentors students at The Middle College at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She coached students about career opportunities in the healthcare industry, workplace etiquette and leadership skills. She also performed mock interviews to prepare students for actual interviews.
Cleveland joined Cone Health as an accountant. In 1999, she was appointed director of finance for LeBauer HealthCare when the private physician group joined Cone Health. She was named LeBauer HealthCare Chief Financial Officer in 2007 and has since expanded her role with the development of the Cone Health Medical Group and the Triad HealthCare Network.
Cleveland received her bachelor of science in finance from the University of South Carolina.
