Renita Thompkins Linville, the first lady of Piney Grove Baptist Church, is celebrating her 30th anniversary in the legal profession.
Prior to establishing her own law firm in 1987, Linville was a founding partner of Buie & Thompkins.

Her firm specializes in family law, which includes divorce, child support matters and custody actions. She also has extensive experience in handling real estate transactions, traffic offenses, wills and estate matters.

Linville earned her law degree with honors from Howard University School of Law in 1982, after receiving a undergraduate degree from North Carolina Central University in business administration.

Her professional affiliations include memberships in the North Carolina Bar Association, North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys, Winston-Salem Bar Association and the 21st Judicial District Bar. She has received numerous community awards and honors and has served on the boards of organizations like the Winston-Salem Urban League, Legal Aid Society of Northwest North Carolina and Mediation Services, Inc., the Winston-Salem State University Foundation and the Winston-Salem Historic District Commission.

A Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Linville taught the course, “Legal Environments of Business” at Winston-Salem State University.
She attributes her success to the support and love of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Thompkins, and her husband, Dr. James F. Linville. The couple have two adult children and eight grandchildren.
