Centenarian Luncheon
On May 10th, 2013, over 40 Winston-Salem residents who were or would be at least 100 years young in 2013 were invited to a celebration honoring their lifetime achievements in Downtown Winston-Salem. In attendance at the Centenarian’s Luncheon, held at the Benton Convention Center, was Mayor of Winston-Salem Allen Joines as well as Mayor Pro Temp, Vivian H. Burke. Burke commented during the ceremony that, “This is a joyous time for the City of Winston-Salem” and indeed, it is!
The program included entertainment, speakers, lunch for both the centenarians and their guests, reading of the Presidential Letter from President Barack Obama and a witty address given by the Keynote Speaker, R. Michael Wells, Sr., Partner of Wells Jenkins Lucas & Jenkins.
