Car club to hold school supply drive
The Bowtie Boyz (n Girlz) Auto Club is following up the success of its June car show with a school supply drive to benefit local kids.
The Club will collect supplies on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 5 – 8 p.m. next to the Food Lion in Eastway Plaza Shopping Center, which is located on the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. and New Walkertown Road.
The public is encouraged to stop by the “Back 2 Class Cruise In” to donate supplies and view some of the cars owned by club members.
The Bowtie Boyz (n Girlz) Auto Club, Inc. was started by a group of friends who shared an interest in General Motors cars and trucks. The name of the organization was derived from the emblem of a Chevrolet, which resembles a bow-tie.
The club has evolved into more than a group of car lovers. Members adopted the following mission, “empowering our communities through charity and promoting social fellowship between members, their families and other persons who share interest in various forms of General Motor automobiles.”
In addition to the “Back 2 Class Cruise In,” the Club has co- sponsored the Peace Toys for War Toys Exchange at the Carl H. Russell Recreation Center and a bowl-a-thon for charity in 2010 and 2011.
