Chebii wins Catawba Invitational
The Winston-Salem State University Rams and Lady Rams cross country teams got the 2012 season underway in style with some great efforts at the 2012 Catawba Invitational Friday afternoon at Salisbury Community
Park.
Winston-Salem State senior Andrew Chebii got back to his winning ways when he won the men’s 8K run with a 28:37.96 in the event. He was joined in the top 10 by fellow senior Fabian White, who recorded a 32:57.84. As a team, the Rams finished third in the event with 64 points.
The Lady Rams had a solid day as well, tying for second place with Barton College with 48 points. WSSU senior JuaShanna Kelly led the way for the Lady Rams with a 19:29.71 in the women’s 5K run. She was joined in the top 10 by sophomore Aquila Jones, who placed eighth with a 19:29.71, and junior Kristi Baptiste, who placed ninth with a 20:01.09 in the event.
The Rams and Lady Rams will return to action this week when the team takes part in the 2012 Adidas Wolfpack Invitational in Cary.
