The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina announced on Monday that Stan Law will serve as president and chief executive officer, effective May 1.  Law is the first African-American to lead the organization in this role in its 128-year history.

He will succeed Curt Hazelbaker, who left to serve in the same capacity at the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas in January.

“It is an honor to become the next president and CEO of the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina,” said Law. “This association is known as a leader in innovation, collaboration, and philanthropy across the Y movement.  I look forward to continuing that tradition and implementing new programs and partnerships that benefit the communities that we serve.”

A native of North Carolina, Law currently serves as the president and chief executive officer at the YMCA of Greater Birmingham (Alabama). He has strategically led that association since 2013, which is comprised of 13 branches, 1,100 staff members, and almost 300 volunteers.
