McDonald’s partners with Hoop It Up 3-on-3 Basketball Tour to host local tournament
McDonald’s, along with the local organizing team, have partnered with the Hoop It Up 3×3 Basketball Tour owned by former NBA superstar Kevin Garnett, to bring an exciting, fun-filled, community-based weekend to Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. The 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be played at Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville on August 15 and 16.
Hoop It Up began in 1989 in Dallas as a grassroots basketball tournament and today is widely regarded as the most famous 3-on-3 basketball tournament in the world. In 2019, former NBA superstar Kevin Garnett’s company, Big Ticket Sports, purchased the tournament and has since committed to expanding the Hoop It Up Tour coast to coast. Hoop It Up offers competition for men and women, boys and girls of all ages and levels of ability.
“We are excited to partner with Kevin and Hoop It Up to bring this amazing event to the Piedmont Triad,” said Cory Baker, local organizing committee member. “Players and fans alike will love what is sure to be one of the most unique basketball tournaments anywhere in the world.”
Teams can register at hoopitup.com. Registration is $150 per team for adults, $125 for 7th thru 12th grade, and $100 for 3rd thru 6th grade. Teams will be guaranteed four games within their selected division, and the winner of the McDonald’s Elite division will take home a cash prize. Space in the McDonald’s Elite division is limited and teams are encouraged to register quickly to ensure admission. All participants will receive a custom Hoop It Up t-shirt.
Organizers are looking for community partners for sponsorship opportunities, food trucks and vendors as well. For more information, contact Cory Baker at 336-473-2884 or email 2020hoopitup@gmail.com.
