FRIDAY-SATURDAY, JUNE 2-3

*June 2 and 3, 7:30 p.m., Ten-Minute Play Festival presented by Winston-Salem Writers, Mountcastle Forum Theatre in the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts, 251 N. Spruce Street. Six winning plays selected from entries to the 10-Minute Play competition will be presented. Winning plays are: “Alligator Toes,” “Ducks in a Row,” “The Amazing Underpants,” “Connection at the Coffee Shop,” “Thin Line,” “We Want to Be the Cool Aliens.” Tickets are $15 and purchasable at https://www.intothearts.org/campus-events/10-Min-Play.

*”Star Stuff, “ a new play by Mark Pirolo and Jackson Mattek, makes its premiere in Winston-Salem on June 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and June 11 at 2 p.m. at the Mountcastle Forum, Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts. Performed by 40+ Stage Company, the final show of their season explores the results when extreme talent, oversized egos, seductive libidos, unbridled ambitions and shameful secrets ignite in a collision of the stuff of which stars are made. *June 10, 8 p.m., Symphony Unbound @The Coalpit, featuring Winston-Salem Symphony musicians. They’ll perform a wide-ranging set list of popular favorites, from Led Zeppelin to Kate Bush and beyond. A great family-fun evening and it’s free! The Coalpit is located in Innovation Quarter on the corner of 5th and Chestnut Streets, just behind Incendiary Brewing and Cugino Forno pizza. TUESDAy, JUNE 13

*June 13, 7:30 p.m., Salem Band performs with a theme “What’s in a Name?”  Hear music by your favorite big-name artists: Count Basie, Judy Garland, and Johnny Mercer. Music from “Aida” and “Hello Dolly,” plus a Cole Porter medley with Salem Band vocalist Mignon Dobbins.  Pre-concert music at 6:45 p.m. by The Salem Band Brass Quintet. Food vendors on site – bring a lawn chair or blanket. There’s nothing more All-American than enjoying a classic band concert in the Town Square – FREE in Salem Square, Old Salem! *Friday, June 16, Innovation and Cinema returns to beautiful Bailey Park’s lower lawn for a magnetic season of films preented by a/perture cinema. This evening’s film is The Matrix (1999). Note: Rated R. Vendors available starting at 7 p.m. Film starts around 8:30 p.m. Bring your own chair or blanket. Free.

*June 17, 1-8 p.m., Innovation Quarter. Triad Cultural Arts is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated Juneteenth Festival, a vibrant celebration of freedom, culture, and unity. This event commemorates the historic milestone of Juneteenth and honors the invaluable contributions of the Black community to our society. Attendees can look forward to: main stage performances, cultural exhibitions, food and refreshments, community engagement and family fun kids’ activities.
