The Pink VOTE to host Brunch at the Polls

The Pink VOTE to host Brunch at the Polls

The Pink VOTE initiative originated from my involvement with Jeanne Supin’s congressional campaign, where I took part in fundraisers hosted at Dr. Sarah Squire’s residence. Throughout this experience, I had meaningful discussions about improving voter participation and turnout in Black and brown communities. This dialogue made a significant impact on Dr. Squire, who subsequently introduced me to Carolina Forward. Since then, Carolina Forward has fully supported the goals and strategies of the Pink VOTE initiative, offering essential financial backing to help propel our efforts forward.

In June of this year, we collaborated with an incredible group of volunteers, primarily from an organization called Women of Action, to register over 1,000 constituents in Forsyth County. We organized events designed to foster a positive, fun, and educational atmosphere that encourages political engagement within the Black and brown communities. These gatherings feature free food and giveaways, including tumblers and T-shirts that provide important voter information, all while creating a vibrant and welcoming environment.

The initial objective of the Pink VOTE initiative was voter registration, followed by voter education and empowerment, canvassing, phone banking, and providing rides to the polls. Carolina Forward has supported our efforts by sponsoring a van for the entire early voting period, as well as funding canvassing and phone banking activities.

Additionally, we are excited to host “Brunch at the Polls.” Join us on the following dates and locations:

*Oct. 17,  11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Anderson Center, Winston-Salem State University

*Oct. 24,  11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sprague Street Community Center

*Oct. 29, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brown and Douglas Recreation Center
