Organization welcomes Courtney Jones as new president & CEO

Big Brothers Big Sisters Services has announced the departure of President & CEO Shawan Gabriel after nearly 13 years of dedicated service. Under his leadership, the organization has made significant strides in mentoring programs, community engagement, and youth development, positively impacting countless lives.

During his tenure, Gabriel led transformative initiatives that expanded outreach, strengthened partnerships, and enhanced the overall impact of the Big Brothers Big Sisters mission, including leading a $2million capital campaign for the purchase of the state-of-the-art mentoring center. His vision and commitment to empowering young people through mentorship have been instrumental in the organization’s growth and success.

“Serving as President & CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” Gabriel said. “I am incredibly proud of the work we have accomplished together and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such a dedicated staff team, board, mentors, and donors. While I am moving on to new endeavors, I remain deeply committed to the mission of mentoring and youth empowerment.”

As Gabriel embarks on his next chapter, Big Brothers Big Sisters’ board approved a motion to name Courtney Jones as the fourth president & CEO in its 48-year history. Courtney currently serves as the chief impact officer at the agency and brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership, youth advocacy, and community partnerships. With a proven track record of driving strategic growth and fostering impactful relationships, she is well-positioned to lead the organization into its next phase.

“I am honored to serve Big Brothers Big Sisters in this role and build upon the incredible foundation established under Shawan Gabriel’s leadership,” said Jones. “I look forward to working with our donors, mentors, partners, and the community to continue empowering young people and helping them realize their full potential.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters remains committed to its mission of creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. With Jones at the helm, the organization is poised to continue its legacy of transforming lives and strengthening communities.
