*Jazz and Jambalaya, HanesBrand Theatre, Friday, April 25, 7 p.m. Join us for Jazz & Jambalaya, a lively fundraiser supporting the Delta Arts Center’s mission to celebrate, preserve and advance African American art and culture. Enjoy an evening of smooth live jazz, delicious tastes of New Orleans, and community fun – all while making a meaningful impact. *On Friday, April 25, The Ramkat, located at 170 W. 9th St. in the downtown Entertainment District, will host Giovannie & The Hired Guns for their Nobody’s Home Tour. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the show set to start at 8 p.m.  Giovannie and The Hired Guns is a country rock quintet from Stephenville, Texas. After forming the band back in 2015, they’ve defined their sound as merging alt-metal, Red Dirt country, Latin pop, Americana, and other influences with their self-proclaimed “most brutally honest songwriting to date.” The performance is part of The Ramkat’s legacy of keeping live music local and amplifying the voices of unique artists for everyone to enjoy.

*”Feeding Beatrice,” by Kirsten Greenidge, presented by the Little Theatre of W-S’s Spotlight Series in Mountcastle Forum in the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts April 25-27. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.. June and Lurie’s eerie new houseguest, Beatrice, is hungry for more than just food. As they struggle to keep her satisfied, they find themselves entangled in a horrifying web of secrets and danger. *Saturday, April 26 & 27, Verdi’s Requiem, presented by the Winston-Salem Symphony at Wait Chapel. Large orchestra and chorus. Powerful drama. For more information and tickets, go to www.wssymphony.org. 

*Earth Day Festival sponsored by Piedmont Environmental Alliance will be held on Saturday, April 26, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., at the Education Building at the fairgrounds. This free event includes numerous vendors, activities for all ages, demonstrations, music, food trucks and more. Free admission! For more information, visit www.peanc.org. 

*The Outreach committee of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church is holding its 7th annual Freedom School Fundraiser benefitting the “Roddy Roberts School of Rock” at the Old Town Freedom School and the Winston-Salem Freedom Schools organization. This is free Open Mic will feature local artists and musicians from the Triad area. Join us for an entertaining Open Mic night, in partnership with our friends at Incendiary Brewing, located at 486 N. Patterson Ave, near Bailey Park on Tuesday, April 29, from 4 – 7 p.m., for an evening featuring music and entertainment from local artists across the Triad. Donations in any amount are greatly appreciated. Bring your guitar or other instrument, your voice, or just yourself and enjoy an evening of great music and fellowship for a wonderful cause.  

THURSDAY, MAY 1 

*May 1, Authoring Action and The Dwelling will present a Retrospective engagement of the first two years of their creative partnership. Join us for this poignant and powerful engagement of monologues, poems and songs. The Dwelling is located at 502 N. Broad St. and is an ecumenical church dedicated to serving people experiencing homelessness in Winston-Salem. 

SATURDAY-SUNDAY, MAY 10-11 

*Saturday and Sunday, May 10 & 11, TITAN featuring Sarah Kirkland Snider: “Something for the Dark”

SATURDAY, MAY 17 

*The second annual Blooming Together Arts Festival will be held on Saturday, May 17, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Generations Center, 114 W. 30th St. Join us for a celebration of intergenerational creativity from 4 to 94. Come experience an international cooking demonstration, musical performances, multi-cultural dances, spoken word performances, and opportunities to participate in hands-on arts activities. *Join Reynolda curator Allison Slaby on Saturday, May 17, 1-2 p.m., for an intimate look at Reynolda’s spring 2025 exhibition “Andrew Wyeth at Kuerner Farm: The Eye of the Earth” before it leaves to travel to the Brandywine Museum of Art later this summer. Hear untold stories and a behind-the-scenes perspective on the exhibition. Reynolda is located at 2250 Reynolda Road. Tickets are $25 and available online at www.reynolda.org.  

SATURDAY, MAY 31 

*Southern Harmony! The Martha Bassett Show with the Piedmont Wind Symphony,Saturday, May 31, at 7:30 p.m., Wait Chapel, Wake Forest University. Martha Bassett and her band join forces with PWS for a uniquely engaging program of music from the South. This special concert features an eclectic mix of shape-note hymns, spirited Cajun reels, and the enchanting sounds that have made Bassett’s band a beloved treasure in the Winston-Salem community.
