The Chronicle says ‘goodbye’ to print and ‘hello’ to digital reporting
Dear Readers,
After five decades of bringing you the news that matters most, next week’s issue (Sept. 4, 2025) marks the final print edition of The Winston-Salem Chronicle.
Since our first publication in 1974, our mission has been to inform, inspire and connect the community we proudly serve. Together, we’ve covered stories of triumph and challenge, celebrated milestones, and borne witness to the ever-changing times.
The decision to cease printing was not made lightly. Like many local newspapers across the nation, we’ve faced economic shifts, changes in readership, and the rise of digital media. While our printed pages will come to an end, our commitment to truth, storytelling, and community remains. We will continue to tell your stories and amplify your voices on digital platforms.
Over the coming weeks, we will be working behind the scenes to create a digital home for our community. Stay connected with us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and, of course, our website, wschronicle.com, for breaking news and updates.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our loyal readers, dedicated staff, advertisers and supporters who have stood with us throughout the years. This paper was more than ink on pages – it was a shared voice, a trusted neighbor, and a record of our history together.
As we print our final edition, we celebrate not only what we’ve done over the past 50 years, but also the bonds that have been built through every article, photograph, and headline.
Thank you for allowing us into your homes and hearts. The story of our community will continue, even if our pages do not.
With gratitude,
The Staff of The Chronicle
