*Book launch for Joe Mills’ latest book of poetry, “The Holiday Cycle,” Thursday, April 10, 6:30 p.m. at Bookmarks, 645 W. Fourth St., downtown Winston-Salem. A professor at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Joe Mills has published seven collections of poetry with Press 53. His book “This Miraculous Turning” was awarded the 2015 Roanoke-Chowan Award for Poetry, and his collection “Angels, Thieves, and Winemakers” was called “a must have for wine lovers” by the Washington Post.

*Celebrating April, National Poetry Month, Bookmarks will host an Open Mic with Mick Scott on Friday, April 11, 6 p.m. at Bookmarks. Participants can read their own poetry or a poem from their favorite poet. Come celebrate the power of words to connect and build community! Free event.

*The Royal Curtain Drama Guild presents its spring production, “Cleaning House,” a timeless tale of a young man’s journey through life. Malcolm, at the point when he realizes just how messy his life has become, and wonders if it’s too much of a mess to clean, or if he still has time before it spirals out of control. Productions will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, 5790 University Pkwy., Winston-Salem, on Thursday, April 11, at 7 p.m., including dinner catered by Pearl’s Kitchen, Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m. and a Sunday matinee on April 13 at 3 p.m. For tickets, go to https://www.rcdgproductions.com.

*Green Street Church and its Anti-Racism Team will present folksinger-songwriter Crys Matthews in an evening of music for hope and justice at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at 639 S. Green St., in Winston-Salem. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Matthews sings social justice music right alongside traditional Country and Americana music. A $20 donation is suggested. You can reserve up to four tickets online at http://bit.ly/CrysMatthewsWSNC or make your donation at the door. Matthews will also be joining Green Street’s 11 a.m. worship service on Palm/Passion Sunday, April 13, and will weave her music together with Green Street’s observance of the beginning of Holy Week.
