All Stars and Hotshots go toe-to-toe
The All Stars and Hotshots, two Optimist Soccer girls U10 and U11 teams, were matched up this past Saturday.
It was a great game from start to finish, with the All Stars getting the best of the Hotshots, 2–1. This is the second meeting of the teams this season, and both games have been very competitive.
At the end of the first half, the teams were tied 1–1, thanks to goals by Dakiya Linville and Charlotte Craver.
It was not until late into the second half that the All Stars pulled away after a second goal by Craver.
“It was a great game,” said All Stars Coach Ben Wilson. “It is always a competitive game with the Hotshots.”
The Hotshots are coached by Elizabeth Levstek, a senior at Reynolds High School who is in her fourth year as an Optimist coach.
“This is my last year before I go off to college, and I have enjoyed every minute of it,” Levstek said. “The kids are great, and it has been very rewarding being a role model for these kids. Optimist is a great organization where it is all about fun and, believe me, my kids have fun.”
Levstek had offers to play soccer at the college level, but turned them down to focus on her education. She will attend UNCG in the fall to study nursing.
