Arrest made in connection to stabbing at local high school

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has arrested and charged a student in connection with a stabbing at Glenn High School on April 7.
Here’s what we know: FCSO deputies were notified at approximately 12:15 p.m. that a student had injuries and needed medical attention, whereby EMS was contacted and transported the victim to a local hospital for evaluation. FCSO investigators partnered with the Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD) to conduct an investigation. According to law enforcement there were no additional threats to the students or the public.
Following the investigation, Jaiden Godley, 16, from Winston-Salem and a student at Glenn, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Additional charges are also being sought related to additional violations. Godley is currently in custody at the Alexander Detention Center in Taylorsville, North Carolina.
The victim, also a student at Glenn High School, is expected to make a full recovery.
Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools (WS/FCS) Superintendent Tricia McManus released the following statement on Monday afternoon:
“Violence of any kind will not be tolerated on our campuses. Our thoughts are with the student who was injured. We are very grateful that he is expected to make a full recovery. The person responsible will face severe consequences under our code of conduct and any appropriate criminal charges. I want to thank school staff and Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office for their quick response.”
In a press release, Sherriff Bobby Kimbrough said that keeping students and staff at our local schools safe is of great importance at the FCSO. “We must never become complacent in acceptance of violence in our schools and against our children,” Kimbrough continued.
“We should all be outraged. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office will always apply all of our assets and recourses when it comes to the safety of our schools, students and teachers … their safety will always be paramount at the FCSO.”
