*The Piedmont Wind Symphony begins its chamber series on Aug. 13, 6 p.m., at Footnote Coffee & Cocktails, serving up bold music in a relaxed, intimate setting. Kick off with Beer & Brass, featuring the powerhouse sound of Ardmore Brass, this toe-tapping program blends musical flair with Oktoberfest cheer in an intimate, relaxed setting. The evening includes an exclusive tasting of Foothills Brewing’s seasonal Oktoberfest brew, paired with fresh, warm pretzels – because great music deserves great flavor. Perfect for music lovers, beer enthusiasts, and pretzel fans alike, this one-of-a-kind event offers a fun and flavorful night out in downtown Winston-Salem. *Jazz, Poetry and Wine at Acadia Foods, Friday, Aug. 15, 7:30 p.m., 228 W. Acadia Ave. Spencer Aubrey, spoken word; Matt Kendrick, bass, flash composer; Dave Fox, keyboards, composer; Drew Hayes, saxophone; Kassem Williams, drums. Part of Summerfest 2025. *Intergenerational Dance with Hot Jazz, Sunday, Aug. 17, 2 p.m., at the Intergenerational Center for Arts and Wellness. New work by choreographer Christina Soriano, with “Gypsy Jazz” performed by the Piedmont Hot Club. Brad Cokendolpher, guitar; Martha Bassett, guitar; Pat Lawrence, bass; Gabriel Pelli, violin and guitar. Part of Summerfest 2025. Tickets are $12 general admission, $5 ages 6-18. *Piedmont Opera presents Opera Lite on Sunday, Aug. 17, 3-4:30 p.m., at the Mary Alice Warren Community Center in Lewisville, 7632 Warren Park Drive. This is your chance to meet classically-trained, up-and-coming artists without the fuss! Opera Lite is a casual opera experience featuring some of Piedmont Opera’s fan favorites. Learn more about the opera and experience the music in a low-pressure and informal setting with a fun theme, beautiful singing, an informative talk, Q&A with the artists and a reception with nibbles. Tickets are $14.02 and can be purchased at www.piedmontopera.org.
