A&T women’s golf finishes 8th at CAA Championships

North Carolina A&T finished eighth at the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Women’s Golf Championships
at the par 72, 5,995-yard Reserve Club at St. James Golf Course on Sunday.
After finishing the first two days of the tournament in ninth place, the Aggies moved up one to place eighth after a
final day, third-round 317. It was by far the Aggies best round of the tournament. They shot a three-round 120-over
340-337-327 – 984.
The College of Charleston Cougars are the 2025 champions after outplaying the UNC Wilmington Seahawks on
Sunday by shooting an even-par 288. The two schools were tied going into Sunday’s action, but the Seahawks shot
3-over 291 to lose the tournament by three strokes with a 19-over 299-293-291 – 883. The Cougars finished the
tournament at 16-over 297-295-288 – 880.
UNCW’s Hannah Altman made a third-round run toward the individual championship title, shooting a 69 on Sunday
to move from fifth place on Saturday to win the 2025 CAA individual crown. She finished the tournament at even
par, one shot ahead of Charleston’s Adrian Anderson, who tried to match Altman shot for shot by shooting a 70 on
Sunday.
Juniors Polina Marina and Ekaterina Prokhorova were the top Aggies on Sunday and for the tournament. Marina
placed 31st for the tournament, shooting 23-over 82-80-77 – 239. Prokhorova finished a step behind her teammate,
placing 32nd with a 24-over 83-80-77 – 240. Marina opened her third round with three straight bogeys, starting with
the No. 10.
The first of her two birdies on Sunday came on the 345-yard par 4 14th. She followed that up with two pars and two
bogeys to finish the back nine by carding a 40. Marina’s front nine started two straight pars before a birdie on the
498-yard par 5 third. Four straight pars followed before the round ended with back-to-back bogeys to give her a 37
on the front.
Prokhorova also had two birdies on Sunday. She approached the 343-yard 18th at 3-over after starting on the 10th.
She birdied 18 before starting the front nine with two bogeys, a par, and a double on the fourth. After four straight
pars, she closed her round with a birdie on the 340-yard par 4 ninth. Junior Ana Rodriguez shot a 36-over 81-87-84 –
252 for the tournament to place 45th.
Junior Tori Mouton got better each round, shooting a 42-over 97-82-79 – 258. She opened her Sunday with a birdie
on the 362-yard par 4 10th. She also birdied the 363-yard par 4 first. Sophomore Sofia Fernando shot 94-85-87 –
