Attorney General-elect Jeff Jackson announces first senior leadership team hires
CHARLOTTE – Attorney General-elect and Rep. Jeff Jackson announced the first members of his senior leadership team at the North Carolina Department of Justice.
“I’m looking forward to getting started in January with this team of passionate, dedicated public servants,” said Attorney General-elect Jeff Jackson. “We are going to work with our colleagues at the Department of Justice to be a shield for the people of North Carolina and to defend their rights and freedoms.”
Eric Wilson, Chief of Staff
Eric has been Director of Administrative Services in the Office of Governor Roy Cooper since 2022. Previously, he served in the Office of the Governor as Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Affairs and as Special Assistant to the Governor. Before that, he held roles at the North Carolina Department of Justice under then-Attorney General Cooper and the University of North Carolina General Administration under then-President Tom Ross. Eric received his bachelor’s degree in political science from North Carolina State University and his master’s of public administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Eric is a native of Raleigh, where he lives with his wife.
Laura Howard, Chief Deputy Attorney General
Laura Howard has served as the General Counsel for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety since January 2022. Prior to joining state government, Laura served as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of North Carolina for more than six years. She also spent six years as a senior litigation associate at an international law firm in Washington, D.C., and clerked for federal District Court Judge David Alan Ezra of the U.S. District Court in Hawaii. Laura earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her juris doctor from Harvard Law School. She was born and raised in Greensboro, and now lives in Raleigh with her husband and two young daughters.
Ryan Park, Solicitor General
Ryan Park has served as the Solicitor General of North Carolina since 2020, where he serves as the state’s chief appellate and constitutional lawyer. He previously worked as Deputy Solicitor General at a national law firm, and as an attorney-adviser at the U.S. Department of State. He clerked for Justices David Souter and Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the U.S. Supreme Court, Judge Robert A. Katzmann on the Second Circuit and Judge Jed S. Rakoff on the Southern District of New York. He graduated summa cum laude from Harvard Law School and with distinction from Amherst College, where he served as president of the student government. He has worked in South Korea on a Fulbright Fellowship and has taught North Carolina constitutional law at UNC Law School and appellate practice at Duke Law School. He lives in Durham with his wife and their two daughters.
Daniel Mosteller, Associate Deputy Attorney General
Daniel Mosteller has served as Deputy General Counsel for Attorney General Josh Stein and the North Carolina Department of Justice since September 2021. He joined the department in April 2017. As Deputy General Counsel, Daniel helped lead Attorney General Stein’s successful efforts to obtain more than $50 billion in nationwide recoveries from companies that helped create the opioid crisis, and he earned the National Association of Attorneys General’s 2021 Attorney General Career Staff of the Year Award for his work on those efforts on behalf of a bipartisan coalition of state attorneys general. Previously, Daniel worked as Acting Special Litigation Counsel for Fair Lending in the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice, as litigation counsel at the Washington, D.C., office of the Durham-based Center for Responsible Lending, and as a law clerk to the Hon. Marsha Berzon of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard University. He grew up in Chapel Hill and lives in Durham, where he finds happiness in its vibrant running community.
Thomas Cromie, Director of Operations and Scheduling
Thomas is Director of Operations and Press Secretary for Attorney General-elect Jackson in the U.S. House of Representatives. Prior to his time working in Congress, Thomas worked as the Deputy Campaign Manager for Jeff Jackson for Congress. He is a graduate of Davidson College.
Nazneen Ahmed, Communications Director
Nazneen is Press Secretary for Attorney General Josh Stein and the North Carolina Department of Justice. She joined the office in 2017 and previously worked at Capstrat, a communications and marketing agency in Raleigh. Nazneen is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and American University. She is a Raleigh native.
