Award winning photographer and artist Rashaun Rucker has had his work shown across the country, at the Smithsonian, celebrities’ homes, colleges and universities, and in countless exhibitions and galleries. Now, for the first time since he was a student at East Forsyth High School, Rucker’s work is on display right here in his hometown of Winston-Salem. Rucker’s piece “Tapestry to my Soul” is a part of Wake Forest University’s Means of Identification exhibition which is on display at the Hanes Gallery.
To kick off the start of a new season, athletes at big-name colleges and in the professional ranks participate in a media day event to introduce the team to the community. The wrestling team at Glenn High School got a taste of sports at the next level earlier this week when they held their own Media Day.
Students at five local schools will soon see an increase in the number of School Resource Officers (SROs) they see on campus. During a meeting on Thursday, Oct. 28, the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Board of Education approved adding an additional SRO at five schools: Glenn, Mt. Tabor, Paisley, Parkland and Reynolds.

During the “Our Opportunity to Love Rally” held last weekend, members of the coalition and several other local organizations made a clarion call to the public, community leaders, and elected officials to do their part to stop the violence.
