Kayla Garrett has always had a passion for helping others. As part of the Therapeutic Recreation Unit, Garrett is tasked with providing programs throughout the community in the rec centers and one of the programs, Empowering Our Teens, was a big hit with parents and kids.

Winston-Salem Christian School athlete chooses academics over athletics
The Kyndall Project nonprofit is attempting to double up their efforts this summer due to COVID-19 canceling their annual backpack giveaway last year. Because restrictions are lifting, the nonprofit is moving full speed ahead with planning their largest giveaway to date. But they need help with supplies before Aug. 14, when they plan to hold the 6th annual Back to School Jam at Rupert Bell Park.
Party bus and tours have new option in the city
Forsyth Country Day School is sending yet another athlete to the next level to further his education and fulfill his dream of playing college sports. Jay Mitchell will be heading to Converse College in the fall to play basketball and track and field.
Criticism of Justin Fields is nothing new for Black quarterbacks
The North Forsyth boys’ soccer team had a phenomenal season. Fighting through COVID-19 quarantines and losing multiple seniors from last year’s team, the Vikings clawed their way to an undefeated regular season at 10-0, only to suffer one of the toughest losses in recent memory in the first round of the playoffs.
The West Forsyth football team has seen their share of talented running backs over the years and this season is no different. The combination of Jevante Long and Nasion Johnson Jr. have carried on that tradition after the graduation of G’mone Wilson and Zy Dillard.
