Authoring Action and The Dwelling present their 4th program of poetry, prose and song
Authoring Action and The Dwelling present their fourth engagement, Voices from the Dwelling, that amplifies the voices of Winston-Salem’s unhoused and housing insecure. Through a fourth series of Authoring Action Creative Writing workshops led by Nathan Ross Freeman and Lynn Rhoades in collaboration with local artists Tammy Baldwin Willard, Tiffany Thompson, and Jeremiah “Jazz” Salter, authors from The Dwelling have written monologues, poems, stories, and songs that give a glimpse into the full personhood of people living on the margins of our community, exploring the topics of judgment, resilience, storms and grace.
Their stories challenge the stereotypes that exist about people experiencing homelessness and name the realities of the systems that may unwittingly contribute to the oppressive qualities of homelessness – individually, culturally and systemically.
The creative writing workshops give the Voices from the Dwelling participants an opportunity to showcase their literary talents that heretofore may have gone unrecognized. From powerful poetry and stories to poignant songs, this will be an evening that touches hearts and personally connects the audience and presenters.
