Azalea Terrace hosts prom for their senior residents

Over 60 seniors showed “they still got it” and knew how to party at the Senior Prom hosted by Azalea Terrace on Oct. 18. Property Manager Yvonne Hubbard said she wanted to give residents an opportunity to “dress up and make it fancy.”
The Senior Prom was held at Ivy Arms clubhouse, beginning with dinner and then music by DJ James Burton. Hubbard said the residents loved having the opportunity to dress up and have a good time. What surprised her the most was how the residents, who often didn’t socialize together, were seen doing selfies and sharing Facebook live posts and friending each other on Facebook. The prom turned out to be a great networking event as well as a fantastic party.
Although many of the residents drove or carpooled to the event, Hubbard was excited to see the TransAid bus pull up in front of the Ivy Arms full of residents, some with their walkers and a few in wheelchairs. They may not be as mobile as others, but they still danced and enjoyed the party all the same. Being over 60 years old didn’t slow these partygoers down in the least.
Hubbard is busy now planning their next event, a Valentine’s Ball, and she hopes to build on the success of the Senior Prom.
As for a repeat performance, Hubbard said, “We will definitely do it again.”
