Battle named pastor of Eden church

The Little Bethlehem Christian Church of Eden has selected Winston-Salem’s Rev. Byron L. Battle Sr. as its new pastor.
Battle, who is the church’s 15th senior pastor, previously served as the college and young adult pastor at Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church, under the leadership of Bishop Sheldon M. McCarter. He also served as one of Bishop McCarter’s personal adjutants for the past nine years.
Battle also served as an interim pastor at a Chicago church for two years. He was born in Greensboro on Aug. 28, 1979 and raised in the city’s Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church under the tutelage of the late Dr. Maurice T. Wilson, the late Rev. Dr. Benjamin S. Foust and Presiding Elder Conrad K. Pridgen.
Battle is a graduate of Ragsdale High School in Jamestown and Chicago State University, where he majored in religious education. Battle is the son of Dr. and Mrs. James Battle of Greensboro. He is married to the former Chantia L. Robinson of Chicago. Together, they have three children: Byron L. Battle Jr., Isaiah Xavier and Princess Ashanti Battle.
