Partnership will allow Cam’s Coffee to expand, hire more employees

Earlier this month Cam’s Coffee announced a partnership with Kaleideum. The coffee shop will be inside the new interactive museum located on Third Street and will offer all the old favorites along with several new items.

Cam’s Coffee was started in 2017 by Camden Myers, who had a traumatic brain injury when he was only seven years old.

What started as just a hobby, something to do on the weekends, quickly turned into a business and a confidence builder. Cam started his coffee venture as a pop-up coffee bar at local businesses, but it wasn’t long before he was shipping coffee across the country, opening his own coffee shop, and providing jobs for others in the community with special needs.

When discussing the partnership with Kaleideum, Cam said he’s excited to see the business grow. “It feels good to know we’re still in business because a lot of businesses don’t last this long,” he said. Cam mentioned that now that he’s older and understands how the business works, he’s ready for what the future holds.

“When I was younger it was just something fun to do, but now that I’m older  I understand that this is a great opportunity to make money and help more people,” he said.

Cam’s mother, Latasha Barr, said the partnership with Kaleideum allows the business to create more opportunities and support for others. With the partnership, they have the capability to hire employees to work in the coffee shop and the museum. The partnership also allows Cam’s Coffee to host workshops and other events at Kaleideum for parents with children with special needs.

“It really is like a true partnership and the coffee aspect is just one part of what they’ve given us the ability to do,” Barr said. “I think that’s what makes this great. It helps us to really do the other things that we’ve always done but given us a broader audience.”

Cam’s Coffee will be located on the first floor of Kaleideum, 120 W. Third Street. A grand opening is scheduled to be held sometime next month. For more information, including employment opportunities and community programing, visit www.camscoffeecreations.com.
