Kristi Ingram won the state championship in golf for Mt. Tabor back in 2010, becoming the first African American female to do so in Forsyth County. For her stellar athletic career for the Spartans, Ingram was elected into the Mt. Tabor Hall of Fame in a ceremony that was held on Oct. 7.

The Women’s Gun Violence Prevention Coalition is calling for all hands on deck in the fight against senseless gun violence. During the “Our Opportunity to Love Rally” held last weekend, members of the coalition and several other local organizations made a clarion call to the public, community leaders, and elected officials to do their part to stop the violence.

Among the many other national days of awareness and celebration, November is also National Novel Writing Month or Nanowrimo for short. It is the month where writers take up the challenge to write the first draft of their book in a 30-day timeframe. The goal is to write at least 50,000 words in a month, which roughly breaks down to 1,667 words per day.
Earlier this month Gov. Roy Cooper appointed attorney Frederick B. Adams II to serve as a district court judge here in Forsyth County. The appointment by Gov. Cooper will fill the vacant seat left by Judge Lisa Menefee, who retired earlier this year.
The Walkertown Wolfpack finished last season with a record of 4-7 in Richard Daniels’ first season as head coach. Daniels is hoping for more success this year and with a full off-season and the addition of guard Jeremiah Scales, that goal is within their grasp.
