Coaching is a calling that is not meant for everyone. Jazmine Charles fought the call to coach for years, but after her playing career ended, she seemed to be on a collision course to coach and has now landed her first position as an assistant coach for the women’s team at Anderson University.

Making the transition from high school to college can be an intimidating endeavor. Lady Eagle basketball players Jaydn Hoover, Destiny Long and Monay Galloway all recently signed their letter of intent to play basketball at Bluefield State College in West Virginia, making their transition to the next level a little easier.
When the pandemic shut down much of the city, it gave Winston-Salem Recreation and Parks department an opportunity to review each of the city’s recreation centers to determine how they could best serve the citizens who used them. They saw a need for a location dedicated to serving seniors and designated Brown & Douglas an Active Adult Center. This is the only designated senior center in Winston-Salem.
