Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools wrapped up Teacher Appreciation Week by shining a light on some of the district’s best employees during the fourth annual Core Awards.

Since its inception, LEAD Girls NC has impacted dozens of girls through its partnerships with local schools such as Mineral Springs and Wiley Middle Schools and Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy. And now the program is expanding to two more schools, Carver High School and Cook Literacy Model School.

Those were just a few of the questions posed to School Board Chair Malishai Woodbury and board member Alex Bohannon during an open forum hosted by the Big 4 Alumni Association, Action4Equity, and Heritage 365.
Brittany Ward and the Hoops 4 L.Y.F.E. (H4L) nonprofit organization has continued to make their presence felt in the community. Ward, founder of H4L, has expanded the scope of what the organization has been involved with and recently held a STEM event for the kids in the program.
