Five older adults sat at the front of the conference room at Senior Services on Dec. 8, anxiously awaiting their turn to read the stories they have been working on during a six-week creative writing class. Through a Spark the Arts grant Senior Services received from the Arts Council of North Carolina, they were able to hire Nathan Ross Freeman, co-founder of Authoring Action, to teach the classes.
Writer’s Corner: Things look different from the view down here
The Elberson Fine Arts Center Gallery at Salem Academy and College is currently featuring the exhibit “Finding Place,” an exhibition of multi-dimensional works by Ollie Singleton, curated by Kimberly Varnadoe. The exhibit runs through Dec. 16 and can be viewed Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Senior Services, Inc. is excited to announce the Creative Connections Campaign and is asking the community to join the effort to bring a national model of serving seniors to Winston-Salem.
Shepherd’s Center offers new opportunities for caregivers
Senior Services, Inc., was awarded grant funding from the North Carolina Arts Council to offer seniors ages 60+, free visual art classes, hand drum lessons, and acting lessons – the latter taught by Corliss Sellers, board chair of 40+ Stage Company.
The Winston-Salem Pops Chorus will welcome the holiday season with fun, festive, familiar tunes. The Pops Chorus is a community-based 36-voice mixed ensemble under the direction of Kevin Mundy and accompanied by Associate Director Robert Rocco.
