Meals-on-Wheels volunteers provide much more than a meal. Each delivery provides a moment of human connection that many recipients cherish more than the meal itself.
In the last two years, Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County has partnered with the Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) Aging in Place program. The partnership enables Habitat to offer, at a very low cost, critical repairs and modifications for seniors in our target communities who otherwise could not afford them.
With the holiday season in full swing, last weekend the Alana Alston Family Foundation did its part to ensure more than a dozen families will enjoy the holidays when they hosted their inaugural Shining Our Light Holiday Celebration.
At the Winston-Salem Foundation’s event, “Better Communities and Better Lives: A Keynote and Conversation with David Brooks” at R.J. Reynolds Auditorium, the foundation’s President Scott Wierman announced a centennial gift to the community to commemorate the foundation’s establishment 100 years ago in 1919.
