College to host BHM programs
A panel discussion slated to take place on Thursday, Feb. 28 from 4:30–5:45 p.m. in Salem College’s Shirley Auditorium (inside the Elberson Fine Arts Center) will tackle a number of pressing issues.
Sponsored by Salem’s Black Americans Demonstrating Unity (BADU), the event promises an open discussion about issues related to race, class, gender, sexual orientation and beyond. Panelists will include Salem students, faculty and members of the Winston-Salem community. It will include an open question and answer session. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
Salem College will end its Black History Month programs with a bang on Friday, March 1 with a variety show themed “Activism through the Arts.” The 7:30 p.m. show will be held in Hanes Auditorium of Elberson Fine Arts Center.
It will feature historical presentations, dance, song, skits, spoken word and more. Refreshments will be served following the show.
A portion of proceeds will go to a charitable organization. Tickets are $5 in advance for adults or $7 at the door for adults. Tickets for children ages 4-10 are $3. There is no admission fee for children three and under.
