DII All-American Team includes Rams
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association placed two Winston-Salem State University Rams on the 2013 Division II All-American Team.
Travis Moore and Tyler Hickernell were selected to the third team as an outfielder and designated hitter, respectively.
Moore, a senior from Greensboro, led the Rams with a .391 batting average, while also leading the team in hits (79), runs (65), triples (8) and stolen bases (45). Moore was named first team All-CIAA, as well as being named First team All-Atlantic Region from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the Daktronics Atlantic All-Region team.
Thomasville native Hickernell hit .316 for the Rams, leading the team in home runs (9), while finishing second in runs batted in (55) and third in doubles (16). Hickernell went 7-4 for WSSU as a starting pitcher, and his seven wins was tops on the team in 2013. He was also selected to the All-CIAA first team, and was selected to the National CollegiateBaseball Writers Association Atlantic All-Region second team and the Daktronics Atlantic All-Region second team.
