All city fire stations are accepting donations of essential items and canned food for the Fire Department’s “After the Fire” program that assists citizens who have been displaced by a fire.

Such items as toiletries (soap, toothbrushes, washcloths, deodorant, shampoo, etc.), canned food, snacks and toys are needed for packages that can be given to displaced citizens.
Donations will also be collected for admission to the “After the Fire” charity basketball games June 26 at Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy gymnasium, 1215 N. Cameron Ave.
Teams representing the police and fire departments will play a preliminary game at 4 p.m. for the right to take on the Winston-Salem Lady Warcats, a semi-professional women’s basketball team that competes in the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League.
