Fitness Friday: How to join adult volleyball, dodgeball, and softball leagues in W-S

THE CHRONICLE
For those looking to relive the days of playing their favorite gym class games, the City of Winston-Salem’s Recreation and Parks Department hosts various adult athletics teams for community members to join. With dodgeball, softball and volleyball leagues, residents are welcome to register for teams or come out to open play nights to get active.
For those interested in sports that are not currently offered through adult athletics, residents are encouraged to inquire about setting up opportunities to host games.
While registration for the spring softball and winter dodgeball leagues has already passed, there is still an opportunity to participate in the upcoming interest meeting for the fall 2025 volleyball league. The meeting will be held Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Miller Park Community Center.
The program also hosts open-net nights on Tuesdays (at Hanes Hosiery) and Thursdays (at MLK Jr.) from 6:30-8:30 p.m., which are free to anyone 18 and older in the community.
Each league has fees specific to each sport, covering the costs of admissions, scheduling and referee fees. For more information on each of the leagues or on fees, visit www.cityofws.org/868/Adult-Athletics, or contact Athletic Director Katie Thomas via email at katherinet@cityofws.org or by phone at (336) 734-1216.
