“Faith For Food,” a food drive that was held by the Buds Of Promise Juvenile Missionary Department at John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church from Aug. 1 – Dec. 29, was a great success.

service project was lead by Zyon Richardson. The youth member proposed the idea of the food drive to the congregation after visiting with family members who attend Williams Memorial C.M.E. Church in High Point, where a food drive was underway to feed 7,000 people for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Determined to make a difference in her own church and community, Zyon asked members of the congregation to donate a different food item each month for four months. Over the course of the drive, 120 pounds of food was collected for Second  Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina.

“I wanted to be able to help the Second Harvest Food Bank continue to help others that may need to be fed, because so many people can be hungry,” Zyon said.
At John Wesley A.M.E., Zyon is very active with the Missionary Department and Junior Usher Board. She is an A-B honor roll student at Johnson Street Global Studies in High Point.
