Special to The Chronicle
The Women’s Day Committee of St. James A.M.E. Church, 1501 N. Patterson Avenue at the corner of 15th Street (across from the U.S. Postal Office), is sponsoring a pre-Women’s Day “Evening of Entertainment” Saturday, Sept. 12, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Nelson Roberts, gospel jazz musician who will soon release his debut album, will perform. The development of his distinctive style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence.
Growing up in a talented musical family meant that Nelson was always surrounded by different forms of music. His mother is a part-time soloist and lead singer with a gospel group, and his parents exposed him to a wealth of music as a child, all of which influenced his development.
Also performing will be comedian Minister Will “EJ” Furches.
Donations are $40 in advance and $45 at the door. Dinner is included. Seating is limited.
Contact Myrna D. Williams (336-923-5881) or Kimberly Howard-Green (336-995-8061) for further information. The Rev. Steven L. Lyons is the pastor. The public is invited to attend.
