Former Wake Forest University standout C. J. Harris has officially signed a pro contract with Germany’s Neckar Ludwigsburg.

Harris, a Winston-Salem native and Mount Tabor High School alum, ranked sixth in the ACC in scoring and also led the league in free throw shooting with 84.7 percent (or 138-of-163). He ranked ninth in the ACC in three-point field goals (1.9 per game) and 10th in minutes played (32.8). He scored in double figures in 26 games.

During his senior season (2012-2013), Harris earned All-ACC honors for the second straight season after leading the Demon Deacons in scoring with 15.4 points per game. He ranked sixth in the ACC in scoring. A three-year team captain, Harris finished his career with 1,613 points in 124 games, for an average of 13.0 per contest. He became just the 17th player in school history to score 1,600 points in a career.

Harris was the first basketball player since Chris Paul in 2005 to win the Arnold Palmer Award, given annually to Wake Forest’s top male athlete.

Prior to signing with Neckar Ludwigsburg, Harris played for the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Summer League.

Ludwigsburg Head Coach John Patrick is happy to welcome the 22-year-old.

“C. J. Harris has played in college in a top conference.  He has put his versatility to the test and filled both guard positions,” Patrick said. “C. J. has a good package of skills and considerable arm span which comes to him on the defensive for good.”

Harris will be the team’s starting point guard. His first game will be Oct. 3 against Polar Bears of Bremerhaven.
