Emmanuel hosting workshop for parents facing an empty nest
The College Connection Ministry of Emmanuel Baptist Church wants to help local parents cope with the hardship that many of them will face when their teenagers leave for college.
Dr. John Mendez, Emmanuel’s longtime pastor, will facilitate a workshop – “Keeping the Nest Warm – How to Cope When your Child Goes Away to College” – on Friday, March 7 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the church.
Besides parents, grandparents, guardians and other family members of college students and prospective college students are invited to attend. The workshop promises to offer valuable information about how to navigate this transitional period in life. It will conclude with board and card games, karaoke, food and good fellowship.
The event is free and open to the public. Emmanuel is located at 1075 Shalimar Drive.
