Housing Authority’s Redmon moving on to Wilmington

Katrina Redmon, the chief development officer and vice president of Development for the Housing Authority of Winston-Salem, has been named the new CEO of the Wilmington Housing Authority.
Redmon plans to start her new position in August. She has been with the Winston-Salem Housing Authority since June 2006, when she was hired as the CFO. She eventually transitioned to head of the Development Department, where she worked with Housing Authority CEO Larry Woods and her staff to spearhead the Cleveland Avenue Initiative Masterplan. The plan is a major urban redevelopment plan that focuses on a 130-acre area along the Cleveland Avenue corridor. The plan has already sprouted the newly-constructed
Oaks At Tenth apartments. The Camden Station apartment complex is now in the works.
Redmon’s colleagues say that she diligently worked to bring awareness about the value of the unique services and opportunities the Housing Authority offers to the city of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County and was very instrumental in transitioning the Housing Authority from a traditional government agency into a viable real estate planning and development company.
She has shared these ideas and plans with the local community and beyond. Under Woods’ leadership, she brought forth a large effort to reform federal housing legislation on a local and national level.
“We have enjoyed having such a talented and dedicated individual on our team. We wish her the best as she moves forward with her career,” Wood said.
Her efforts have been recognized by not only housing authorities and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), but also the Piedmont Triad Apartment Association (PTAA), which named her the 2012 Corporate Professional of the Year and honored her with a Diamond Award at their annual Diamond Awards Ceremony in 2013.
“I am so honored to have had the opportunity to grow with the Housing Authority of Winston-Salem, and I look forward to going to the Wilmington Housing Authority,” said Redmon. “I have truly enjoyed my experience with the Housing Authority of Winston-Salem. There are a lot of innovative, creative and hard working staff here and I appreciate what I have experienced with them over the years.”
