Members of Kappa Alpha Psi register students to vote at WSSU
On Sept. 24 Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated (Delta Chi Chapter), participated in National Voter Registration Day. National Voter Registration Day is a national holiday celebrating our democracy. It was first observed in 2012 and has been growing in popularity every year since.
On the campus of Winston-Salem State University, Delta Chi galvanized their efforts and spread throughout the campus, starting as early as 8:45 a.m., registering students to vote in the O’Kelly library. While the program was scheduled from 12 to 2 p.m. at various locations throughout the campus, the brothers of Delta Chi canvassed the campus in search of students, faculty and staff who needed to register or update their voter registration information. Also while registering students to vote, the chapter informed students of the newly approved North Carolina Voter ID law.
The Delta Chi Chapter is planning an additional forum to discuss North Carolina Voter ID Laws in greater specifics and also reaching out to the Wake Forest Law School to collaborate on the effort.
